Egoyan & Pauly's Hopeful Monster
Hopeful Monster, the SCA's Mauricio Pauly's new album Eve Egoyan, which was recorded in the Fei & Milton Wong Experimental Theatre (here in SFU's Goldcorp Centre for the Arts) in July of 2022, is out Friday, October 6, 2023, on the always-adventurous No Hay Discos. VIFF Live's Ironworks Series
The SCA's Miwa Matreyek and SCA alumnus Sammy Chien are performing as part of VIFF Live's Ironworks Series, which "invites four established resident artists to perform their innovative works in the exploratory and experimental framework of the iconic Ironworks venue (235 Alexander St., Vancouver)," on October 7, 2023, from 7:00 PM – 10:00 PM, curated by SCA alumnus Normal Armour. The SCA's Laura U. Marks is guest editor for PERMASTATES: No. 001, "an artist-led, biannual, intricately crafted book object," which is calling for work that "explores societal relationship to the idea of permanence by way of humanity’s psychosocial, political, and historical connections with nature," with a deadline of midnight on January 1, 2024. Hill's Sobey video
The National Gallery of Canada shared a video portrait of SCA alumnus Gabrielle L'Hirondelle Hill, who is the West Coast and Yukon finalist for the 2023 Sobey Art Award, the exhibition for which opens Friday, October 13, 2023, at the National Gallery of Canada (Upper Contemporary Galleries, 380 Sussex Drive, Ottawa), and runs to March 3, 2024.
