Sky Hopinka wins 2020 Guggenheim Fellowship
The SCA's Sky Hopinka has been awarded a 2020 Guggenheim Fellowship. Congratulations, Sky!
He was chosen amongst "a diverse group of 175 writers, scholars, artists, and scientists ... from almost 3,000 applicants in the Foundation’s ninety-sixth competition." According to the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation website, "Guggenheim Fellowships are grants to selected individuals made for a minimum of six months and a maximum of twelve months" with "no special conditions" attached to them. As we've covered before HERE, Hopinka has been very busy with multiple projects, screenings, and exhibitions, as well as teaching at the SCA, including leading the course-based version of Skoden Indigenous Film Festival, which was produced and organized with SFU students.
