The Norman Armour Memorial Fund
Named in honour of SCA alumnus and beloved interdisciplinary artist and non-profit arts specialist Norman Armour, the Norman Armour Memorial Fund will support an award for undergraduate contemporary arts students who have demonstrated a spirit of collaboration and interdisciplinarity through their work and artistic practice. With a fundraising goal of $40,000, support from donors like you will provide students with much-needed funding to pursue their education.

Thiessen awarded new Serein Properties Award
SCA alumnus Kaleb Thiessen – who was part of Look Both Ways, the SCA BFA graduating exhibition that ran April 18 – May 4, 2024, at the Audain Gallery – is the inaugural recipient of the new Serein Properties Award in Visual Arts, which recognizes SCA "students with a talent for sculpture and installation arts." With a generous five-year commitment to fund the new award by Serein Properties, it will be to be disbursed annually in the fall semester. Read more about the award and Thiessen's work HERE. TRACES (after Sophie Calle)
WaxFactory (the SCA's Erika Latta and longtime collaborator Ivan Talijancic) and playwright Rachel Jendrzejewski are presenting the "immersive, site-specific work" TRACES (after Sophie Calle) on Monday, October 28, 2024, unfolding "in real time across downtown Minneapolis," presenting as part of the Walker Art Center's 2024–25 Performing Arts Season and in relation to the exhibition Sophie Calle: Overshare, which runs at the Walker from October 26, 2024 – January 26, 2025. PantoLand + PantoTown underway
Founded by SCA alumni Maiko Yamamoto (who's Theatre Replacement's Artistic Director) and James Long (who's SCA faculty in our Theatre + Performance Area), Theatre Replacement's PantoLand + PantoTown, their "week-long summer camps for kids and tweens," include SCA alumni Amanda Sum and Anjela Magpantay as some of the lead teachers. The SCA's Nadia Shihab is helping to present image and existence: four timely films on/of palestine on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at 6:30 PM at The Cinematheque (1131 Howe St., Vancouver), featuring works by Razan AlSalah, Oraib Toukan, Larissa Sansour & Søren Lind, and Mary Jirmanus Saba, presented by from the river to the sea collective with support from the Film Workers for Palestine.

Lewis on the River Clyde Pageant
SCA alumnus Megan Stewart, who's the artistic director, lead producer and co-founder (with the SCA's Ker Wells) of The River Clyde Pageant, shared this article,"The River Clyde Pageant: Inventing and Reinventing the Conditions for Planetary Performance," from (former SCA faulty member) Cole Lewis in the Spring 2023 issue of the Canadian Theatre Review. Tam in The Tempest Project

SCA alumnus Ogheneofegor Obuwoma is hosting a free, online "Artist Salon" on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, from 7:00 PM – 8:15 PM, presented by the Richmond Art Gallery. More HERE. BLOT's Perform Europe Grant
BLOT – Body Line of Thought, the collaborative project by Simona Deaconescu and SCA alumnus Vanessa Goodman, has received a Perform Europe Grant (with the support of the Creative Europe programme of the European Union), to tour the project across a number of countries in Europe in 2025. More HERE.
Vines needs volunteers
Vines Art Society, founded by SCA alumnus and Vines Artistic Director Heather Lamoureux, is looking for volunteers to help with this year's Vines Art Festival, which is running August 7 – 17, 2024, at various parks in so-called Vancouver. Tender City: The Silent Slow Dance

Kevin Jesuino invites gay, bi, and trans men to participate in his socially engaged dance project, Tender City: The Silent Slow Dance, as part of his MFA graduating project this summer. Through public silent slow dancing, this project explores the histories of cruising, male tenderness, and urban alienation.
