Daniel's a highlight
Good to see the SCA's Henry Daniel included in the "highlights" in this post from SFU's Archives and Records Management about Tiara Cash, a PhD student in Social Psychology who's also the Research Assistant for SFU's Black Caucus, who's working on a Black History Project about "Black faculty, staff, students, and guests from SFU's past." The Vancouver Art Gallery has posted another short video interview segment on their Instagram account with the SCA's Jin-me Yoon, whose exhibition, About Time, runs until March 5, 2023. Watch it HERE.
Maier scores Progressive Touch

TPE does Sonic Boom
The SCA's Owen Underhill and the Turning Point Ensemble are the Ensemble-in-Residence for Vancouver Pro Musica's 2023 Sonic Boom Festival, which runs March 15 – 19. More HERE.
NOW Workshops
The SCA's Stefan Smulovitz joined NOW Society's Lisa Cay Miller for an improvisation workshop at the Roberts Creek Community Hall on February 23, 2023, as part of a series of workshops Now Society is holding both at Roberts Creek and in Vancouver at 8EAST. SCA alumni Marisa Antoinette Gold, Isabelle Kirouac, and Stefan Smulovitz, who's also the SCA's Technology & Resources Manager, are all part of EDAM Dance's upcoming Choreographic Series, which runs March 15 (with post-show artist talkback), 17, 18, 22, 24, and 25, 2023, at 8:00 PM, at 303 East 8th Ave., Vancouver. McMann in Fusion
SCA alumnus Jessica McMann is performing as part of the Fusion Capitol Season Show on Thursday, February 23, 2023, at Nelson's Capitol Theatre (421 Victoria Street). More HERE. Also, she posted freshly printed sheet music for Muskwa's Mountain Home, courtesy the Canadian Music Centre, which McMann says is going to be performed by the Edmonton Symphony this April.

Rahi in Krems
SCA alumnus and PhD student George Rahi is heading to Krems, Austria, in May, 2023, for an artist residency and will be giving a guest lecture at the Tangible Music Lab at the Kunstuniversität Linz on May 17 and playing an OTTOsonics concert with Isabella Forciniti on May 19. Silverfox talks
SCA alumnus Krystle Silverfox, who was the 2022 Sobey Art Award finalist for the West Coast & Yukon, is giving an artist talk via Zoom for the National Gallery of Canada on Saturday, February 25, 2023, from 3:00 PM – 4:00 PM EST / 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM PST, followed by "a conversation between the artist and Mary Bradshaw, Director of Visual Arts at the Yukon Arts Centre, on the impact of context and environment on the creation and interpretation of art." Wei's Tuning to Oblivion
Developed out of her 2019 M:ST Performative Art Residency, which took her to Thailand from November 17 – December 14, SCA alumnus and PhD student Casey Wei has released Tuning to Oblivion: an artist residency, which she describes as her "first full-on attempt at writing a book-book, an excavation of subconcious and unconcious histories — personal/collective, private/public — that are embedded in everything, activated by discreet curiosity. riyl: art rock?, performance art, thailand, being & time, art writing, ABC books, travelogue, kc-logue, cats ." SCA alumnus Lauren Lavery is on an Iris Project Residency, running February 12 – 23, 2023, in Los Angeles, which "offers artists, curators, writers, and creative thinkers from diverse backgrounds and disciplines the space and time to push boundaries in their practices." More HERE.

The Contemporary Art Gallery updated their site with a description, install shots, and a link to download an exhibition brochure for Hometown II, the latest curatorial project by The Couch (SCA alumni Debbie C. and Sena Cleave), featuring work by SCA alumni A. Sappier's daily virtual smudge
Here's SCA alumnus Carr Sappier, who's also the co-founder of the Skoden Indigenous Film Festival (SIFF) and also co-instructor of the SCA class that helps produce and run the festival, sharing a "daily virtual smudge." The 2023 edition of SIFF, now on its fifth year, runs Friday, March 31 & Saturday, April 1 in the Djavad Mowafaghian Cinema here at SFU Goldcorp Centre for the Arts (149 W. Hastings St. Vancouver).
