Yoon's Long Time So Long
The SCA's Jin-me Yoon is presenting Long Time So Long at the Art Gallery at Evergreen (1205 Pinetree Way #1, Coquitlam) on Saturday, February 18, 2023, from 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM (this includes a Korean-language Exhibition Tour from 1:00 PM – 1:30 PM, a conversation between Euijung McGillis, Assistant Curator of Photographs Collection at the National Gallery of Canada, and Jin-me Yoon at 2:00 PM, and the Opening Reception from 3:30 PM –5:00 PM). Radul's Warmer Than The World Around Us
If you're in Montreal, the SCA's Judy Radul's exhibition Warmer Than The World Around Us, which was "originally produced onsite in Gwangju, South Korea, for the occasion of the 13th Gwangju Biennale," runs from February 9 – April 8, 2023, at Montréal's Dazibao Gallery (5455, de Gaspé Ave., suite 109).
Matreyek talks Taiko
On Saturday, February 18, 2023, the SCA's Miwa Matreyek will be in conversation with Jennifer Weir, the Executive Director of TaikoArts Midwest and the Artistic Director of Enso Daiko, following "a 30-minute free public Taiko performance at 12:00 noon by Vancouver’s Sawagi Taiko, the first all-women Taiko group in Canada, at Woodward’s Atrium," and a 1:30 PM screening of the film Finding Her Beat in the Djavad Mowafaghian Cinema here at SFU Goldcorp Centre for the Arts (149 W. Hastings St., Vancouver). The day ends with a 4:00 PM "free, informal talkback" with Jennifer Weir and the Vancouver Taiko Society in the KW Studios’ Production Studio (basement level of 111 W. Hastings St.). This day of "femme Taiko" is co-presented by the Powell Street Festival Society, DOXA Documentary Film Festival, and SFU Woodward's Cultural Programs. More HERE.

SCA alumnus Lorna Brown will be hosting a Saturday Session about by the SCA's Kathy Slade's exhibition, As the sun disappears and the shadows descend from the mountaintop, tomorrow – February 11, 2023 – at 12:00 PM. Stir Vancouver reviewed Electric Company Theatre's An Undeveloped Sound, which has SCA alumni Sophie Tang as Lighting Designer and Scott Morgan / Loscil as Composer & Sound Designer, and current SCA students Jack Chipman doing Media Integration and Ruby Henderson as a Performer. SCA alumnus Arthi Chandra is directing Girlhood 4 Dummies, presented by Studio 58 at Langara College's as part of their Risky Nights (Spring Edition), running February 7 – 12, 2023, at A010 (lower level of the A Building at Langara). Also, Chandra was invited to take part in the Neil Munro Intern Directors Project, which will have them "apprentice directing" three shows (The Amen Corner, directed by Kimberly Rampersad; Prince Caspian, directed by Molly Atkinson; and A Game of Love and Chance, directed by Tim Carroll) and also directing their own show at Niagara-on-the-Lake's Shaw Festival in September. Watch a video by SCA alumnus and Skoden Indigenous Film Festival co-founder Carr Sappier, produced in collaboration with Desmond Simon for JEDI (Joint Economic Development Initiative), that "aims to highlight that online hate and racism toward Indigenous Peoples exists, and collectively we should fill people’s social media feeds with positivity and education about what it means to be a Wabanaki Person in an effort to combat this hate." It's also a call for "Wabanaki People from across Atlantic Canada to join in the movement and to share a story/photo/video of themselves being beautifully Indigenous using the hashtag #WeAreWabanaki."
