Welcome new SCA Undergraduate Students

All new SCA students are invited to join us for the SCA Welcome Day programming and lunch.

NOTE: Please check your email for the invite. The emails went out on August 6th with the subject heading "Get Started – Your Invitation to Welcome Day!" but there is a chance that it went to your junk folder in either your SFU email or your personal email. RSVP by August 25, 2024.

Schedule

10:00 AM – 10:30 AM: Student Check-In (Ground Floor Lobby)
10:30 AM – 11:00 AM: SCA Welcome (Djavad Mowafaghian Cinema | GCA 3200)
11:00 AM – 12:00 PM: HIVE Break-out Sessions for new students (GCA 4210 & GCA 4270) or SCA Drop-in Advising for current students (GCA 2205)
12:00 PM – 1:00 PM: Lunch (Djavad Mowafaghian World Art Centre | GCA 2555 and Rooftop Patio)
1:00 PM – 2:30 PM: Area Performances / Installations / Activities (various rooms)

The Area Performances / Installations / Activities are presented in 5 sets. For each set, please choose 1 performance, installations, or activity to attend.

Dance: A work-in-progress by dance artist and SCA alumni Anya Sagstad, produced during CA 421: Choreographic Lab in intersession 2024
Film: Screening of Traces by Kimia Mohammadi Moayyed and Hidden Driveways by Quinn Masselink
Music & Sound: Performance by Samira on Synths and Stephanie, Aidan, and Leif improvising on Oboe, Clarinet, and Piano
Theatre & Performance: Presentation of [Craniofacial] Hyperhydrosis by Sara van Gaalen, Lachlan Harris-Fiesel, and Czarina Augustines
Production & Design: Live-cam, Projection, and Body Workshop by Miwa Matreyek
Visual Art: Drawing and Material Exploration Workshop by Claire O’Neil, Hanna Baxter, and Sanodya Adikari
