HOLD ON LET GO
Theatre Replacement and Company 605’s annual performing-arts festival, HOLD ON LET GO, co-curated by Lisa Mariko Gelley, Josh Martin, and SCA alumnus Maiko Yamamoto, runs February 4 – 8, 2024, at the Russian Hall (600 Campbell Ave., Vancouver), and includes SCA alumnus Keely O'Brien's Secret Ingredients as a Main Stage presentation, an In Development presentation of SCA alumnus Anjela Magpantay's it is for when you meet me, SCA alumnus Amanda Sum as curator of the Emerging Artist Series (featuring an Artist Talk, Emergence: Navigating the New, with SCA alumnus Davey Samuel Calderon, and a Panel, Devising Practice: How we make what we do, with O’Brien and Magpantay), a series of Festival Gatherings (including a Accelerator Lab Community Conversation with Kyle Loven, SCA alumnus Aryo Khakpour, Calderon, and O’Brien, SCA alumnus Starr Muranko in conversation with members of Dancers of Damelahamid, and a special screening of Looping, a Company 605 Film Directed by Khakpour), and much more. Marks' jury duty
The SCA's Laura U. Marks was on the jury for the 2025 Jameel Prize at the Victoria and Albert Museum, London, which was won by Khandakar Ohida for her film Dream Your Museum. More HERE.

Saadatpajouh leads NWXR 2025
SCA MFA student Avideh Saadatpajouh, who's also New Works' XR Program Coordinator for 2025, shared with us that the call for participation in NWXR 2025: Beyond the Stage, "a seven-week journey of interdisciplinary workshops exploring text, movement, senses, and technology," is now open, with a deadline of Friday, December 20, 2024. Cafferata's Overhear and at UAAC-AAUC
This November, Torien Cafferata, who is an SCA alumnus and the co-Artistic Director of It’s Not A Box Theatre (with Amberlin Hsu), was the Co-Director and did Interactive Design for Overhear, which included a live performance in Taipei and an installation in Taichung, co-produced by Performosa Theatre / 演摩莎劇團 and It's Not a Box Theatre. SCA in VIDF 2025
SCA alumnus Salome Nieto and Julio Medina, presenting Nepantla: Magia Ancestral, and SCA alumnus Luciana Freire D’Anunciação and Kelly McInnes, presenting Mouth to Mouth (with music by SCA alumnus Alex Mah), are part of the 2025 edition of the VIDF, which has SCA alumnus Deanna Peters and Victor Tran as Co-Directors, running March 5 – 15, 2025, at various Vancouver venues, with OFFSITE programming from March 2 – 22, too. The School of Interactive Arts + Technology, one of our partners in the Faculty of Communication, Art and Technology, are looking for sound designers and motion performers for their StudioSIAT. Here's their full call:
StudioSIAT at SFU's School of Interactive Arts and Technologies is seeking talented SOUND DESIGNERS and MOTION PERFORMERS in movement, stunt and combat, and dance performance. If you or someone you know may be interested, please invite them to our discord server.
SOUND DESIGNERS: for our Virtual Ambassador Program, we’re looking to create an unique soundscape for a trailer as well as some unique sound design for other undisclosed media purposes. If you are interested, please post an intro in the newly created #sound-designer-search channel with the following information:
- Which school & department you’re from
- If you’re a current student or alumnus
- Link to your portfolio and/or demo reel
PERFORMERS: for our Motion Capture Library, we’re looking to create 3 different categories of motions for our motion capture library, basic locomotion, basic stunt and combat, and basic choreographic performance. We’re looking to audition up to 3 performers who can help us in creating this data. If you’re interested, please post your intro in the newly created #performer-search with the following information:
