Transforming Objects / Video Projection
November 25 – December 9, 2024
Lobby Screen Array
SFU School for the COntemporary Arts
149 W. Hastings St., Vancouver
Students from CA 174: Transforming Objects and CA 276: Video Projection, both led by the SCA's Miwa Matreyek, have video projects and various constructed objects on display in the lobby of the SCA.
Featured works from CA 174: Transforming Objects
Fish lantern parade: exquisite paper lanterns made with sticks, reed, and papier-mache.
Five cardboard wearable projects: the prompt was to make sculptural objects out of cardboard designed to be “worn” by a performer to show their inner worlds manifested into outer worlds. The project groups were also asked to shoot videos using the objects as costumes and miniature film sets.
Featured works from CA 276: Video Projection
Rotoscoping project: students digitally hand-drew over footage to create a continuous morph from one person to the next.
Macro Ink textures
Scrim and Screen: students designed environments for front and rear projections onto scrim and screen surfaces and asked a classmate to perform within that space.
