Congratulations, Kira!
Congratulations to Kinar (Kira) Saragih, who was awarded the 2024 CAG Prize at the opening for Look Both Ways, the BFA Graduating Exhibition, which runs April 18 – May 4, 2024, in the Audain Gallery (149 W. Hasting St., Vancouver). Administered by the Contemporary Art Gallery, the CAG Prize entails a four-week self-directed residency in CAG's North Gallery space, providing the recipient with a stipend, semi-private studio space and support to further develop their practice, as well as the opportunity to expand their connections to a wider arts community in Vancouver.
Kitsos' Room
The SCA's Rob Kitsos was recently a Dancer-in-Residence at Studio Faire (58 Ave., Georges Clemenceau 47600 Nérac, France), where he produced the short film Room. Watch the film HERE.
Yoon and Sound in Otherwise Disregarded
The SCA's Jin-me Yoon and SCA alumnus Michelle Sound join Adad Hannah and Jake Kimble in Otherwise Disregarded, which runs April 20 – September 29, 2024, at the Audain Art Museum (4350 Blackcomb Way, Whistler), co-presented by the Audain Art Museum and the Capture Photography Festival, for which Otherwise Disregarded is a Featured Exhibition in the 2024 edition of the Festival. Congratulations, Dylan!
Dylan Robinson, an SCA alumnus and Associate Professor at the UBC School of Music, has won the 2023 Friends of Canadian Music Award from the Canadian League of Composers and the Canadian Music Centre. As part of the Award, Robinson selected Sherryl Sewepagaham "to receive support as an emerging artist." More HERE.

Media artists and eco-activist friends, give us a HIGH FIVE! It’s the Small File Media Festival’s fifth anniversary! Since 2020, we’ve been raising awareness about the environmental impact of streaming media. We challenge media makers to intervene in the 4K dystopia of bandwidth imperialism by creating original small-file movies of any length, proving once again that small files are THE sustainable cinematic avant-garde. If you’ve made it, you can submit it – as long as it’s no more than 1.44MB per minute. More HERE.

Fundraisers for Palestine
SCA alumnus Jesse Del Fierro is helping to organize two "garage sale" fundraisers for Palestine, with proceeds going to Salam & Solidarity and HEAL Palestine. The first event is May 4 from 4:30 PM – 10:00 PM near Cambie and E.
