FCAT 2018 Research Excellence Awards
Congratulations to all of the winners at the inaugural FCAT 2018 Research Excellence Awards on Wednesday, December 12, 2018, organized by the Faculty of Communication, Art and Technology, our faculty at SFU.
Winners included Adel Iskandar (Research Mentorship, awarded to a faculty member who has demonstrated excellence in mentoring early career faculty), Hannah McGregor and Juan-Pablo Alperin (Making Research Knowledge Public, awarded to a faculty member who has demonstrated excellence in making research outcomes and insights public and/or in engaging new communities with scholarly or artistic work), Will Odom (Emerging Researcher, awarded to a faculty member who has demonstrated excellence in their early-career research), and the SCA's own Ker Wells (Community and Participatory Research, awarded to a faculty member who has demonstrated excellence in research co-creation) and Jin-Me Yoon (Distinguished Researcher, awarded to a faculty member who has made an outstanding contribution to their field of research or research co-creation). All winners "will receive up to $5,000 to support innovation in public access to research and research creation."
Adjudicated by a university-wide panel, FCAT describes the awards as being "part of a larger initiative to promote research excellence across the university, FCAT’s awards will recognize individual and collaborative contributions to excellence in innovative, interdisciplinary and community-engaged research and research creation."
