-WAYS- is an animated 3D video projection by SCA MFA candidate Julia Schnitman that integrates concepts of memory, reality, and the modulation of natural (urban spaces) versus artificial environments (3D generated spaces) in order to explore how these elements effect spatial and perceptual understanding. The piece explores the subjectivity of the individual and their sense of perception in a virtual immersive space by creating the illusion of a new space within an existing urban location. This visual confusion works to evoke an uncertain awareness that places the observer`s internally constructed reality into question versus existing reality.
-WAYS- is presented in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Fine Arts.
Presented by the SFU School for the Contemporary Arts.
