Radul films crows

The SCA's Judy Radul is one of six artists selected to produce a new public art work for the City of Vancouver's 2021 Artist-Initiated Projects program. Congratulations, Judy! Joey Chaos and The Ghosts, fronted by SCA alumni Joseph "Joey Chaos" Malbon, have just issued a "deluxe" edition of their Immolation EP on their new label home, Surkeus Records. Listen HERE.

Sum and Vines funded

Congratulations to SCA alumni Amanda Sum and the Vines Art Festival, founded by SCA alumni and festival Artistic Director Heather Lamoureux in 2015, who were amongst the recipients of funding from the 2021-22 Vancouver Music Fund. More HERE.

SCA alumni Jen Aoki-Bolcsfoldi is participating in Small Stage's 2021 summer "love bubble" PRIDE programing, including the "Diva Show" on Friday, July 30, from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM in Gastown (Maple Tree Square at 200 Carrall Street) and on Saturday, July 31, from 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM on Robson Street at the Bute Plaza. Kotowich's Traning Jam and in Dub This Road (TAIKOPERA) | ダブ・ディス・ロード (たいこペラ) 

Join SCA alumni Jeanette Kotowich for a Training Jam on Sunday, August 29, 2021, at 2:00 PM at the Vines Art Festival, presented by the New (to) Town Collective (SCA alumni Anjela Magpantay, Davey Calderon, and June Fukumura, and Avyen von Waldenburg). Also, Kotowich performs in Dub This Road (TAIKOPERA) | ダブ・ディス・ロード (たいこペラ) by Denise Sherwood and the drum groups Sawagi and Onibana Taiko, with production by Adrian Sherwood (On-U Sound Records), produced and directed by Don Chow for the 2021 Powell Street Festival. Saugstad's Ocean Roaring

SCA alumni Anya Saugstad is presenting Ocean Roaring, a piece choreographed in collaboration with SCA alumni Eowynn Enquist, Shion Skye Carter, Samantha Priya Wright, and Cindy Kao and dancers Sabine Raskin and Daria Mikhaylyuk, on August 5 (at 8:00 PM) and 6 (at 12:00 PM) at Tugboat Bay Beach in Kelowna (1200 Water St. at Waterfront Park), presented by the Rotary Centre for the Arts and Made in BC – Dance on Tour. Long, Yamamoto, Siu, Mochizuki, and Kwan at the Skytrain Station

Theatre Replacement (SCA alumni James Long and Maiko Yamamoto) will be working with SCA alumni Remy Siu and Cindy Mochizuki and artist Vanessa Kwan on a new work for the Broadway-City Hall Skytrain Station. More HERE.

Rahi and Klinke @ Wonderment

If you're in Victoria, SCA alumni George Rahi will be presenting his sound sculptures in Fisherman's Wharf park on Saturday, July 31, 2021, from 12:00 PM – 5:00 PM (PDT) as part of Wonderment. Also, SCA alumni Alexandre Klinke will be playing live there from 2:00 PM – 3:30 PM, along with Meredith Bates. Klinke is also performing on Sunday, August 1, at 2:00 PM – 6:00 PM (PDT) at Beacon Hill Park's Cameron Bandshell as his alter ego Playback Head, with Adham Shaikh. More HERE.

SCA alumni Kimberly Ho will be presenting their work tou saang zhu 土生豬 from August 5 – 15, 2021, as part of the exhibition (Re)Visions at the Art Gallery at Evergreen, presented as part of the Evergreen Cultural Centre's inaugural Emerging Creators Incubator residency.
