Mechatronic Systems Engineering Research Labs

The School of Mechatronic Systems Engineering is renowned for its pioneering, interdisciplinary research. We have an innovative faculty with a diverse range of research interests plus productive relationships with many industry partners, from start-ups to large companies. Our research mandate is to address industry challenges, advance knowledge, and contribute to the training of highly qualified personnel.  We also welcome opportunities to work with industry in the development of commercial products and applications.

The school has also been highly successful in attracting research funding from agencies such as the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC), Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) and other Canadian Networks of Centres of Excellence such as Auto21 and MITACS.

Research within our school encompasses many areas, including automotive applications, biomedical systems, microelectronics, energy systems, industrial/power electronics and micro/nano systems.
