SEE and EGBC co-host panel on sustainability
On Friday, the Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC) and the School of Sustainable Energy Engineering (SEE) co-hosted a Sustainability Panel event that focused on challenges and opportunities of integrating sustainability into professional practice.
The theme for this event was Building and Maintaining Sustainable Infrastructure for a Resilient Future. The panel comprised Jesse Unke (Principal DCH), Melina Scholefield (Executive Director, Zero-Emissions Innovation Centre), Christoph Rufenacht (VP Airport Development and Asset Optimization, YVR), and Scott Maloney (VP Environment, Teck). The session was moderated by Zafar Adeel (Director pro tem, School of Sustainable Energy Engineering).
During this event, the panelists shared their insights into:
- The sustainable practices and initiatives currently underway to build new infrastructure and maintain aging infrastructure;
- What equity, diversity and inclusion, Indigenous knowledge, and climate action considerations are taken into account in the designs and operations of resilient infrastructure in BC;
- What Engineers and Geoscientists BC registrants need to know about building and maintaining sustainable infrastructure in the Province.
