Distribution of Humpback Whales:

A total of seven confirmed oppotunistic sightings of humpback whales were recorded over the four field seasons of effort of the leeward coast of Domincia. The only baleen whale sighted in this study, the humpback whale is the only migratory species which is not resident in tropical waters year round. Figure 9, below, identifies the location and distribution of all humpback whale sightings across all four field seasons. Interestingly, four of the sightings of this species are at approximately the same location along the coast, but at varying distances from shore.
