For the sake of visualization, the coastline of the island of Dominica was downloaded from the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) Coastline Extractor. The World Vector Shoreline Database is designed for maps with a scale of around 1:250,000 or smaller and its accuracy requirement is that 90% of all identifiable shoreline features must be located within 500 meters (2.0mm at 1:250,000) cirular error of their true geographic positions with respect to the preferred datum (WGS 84). The vertical reference is the shoreline based on mean high water.
