In the Media: September 2021
Media and publications featuring the Faculty of Education faculty, staff, and students in September 2021.
Know Your Candidate: Maureen Curran, Burnaby South (September 10, 2021)
Maureen Curran, a member of SFU's Faculty of Education, is mentioned.
“Maybe this year won’t be the Green Party’s, here in this riding. But if we build and if we create the connections, and if we show the people who are around us, my neighbors, that we care about them, and we start gaining their trust, then I do hope that in the long run, we will be able to get more members into parliament.”
None of the major parties will cancel TMX, despite heated opposition in B.C. (September 10, 2021)
Maureen Curran, a member of SFU's Faculty of Education, is quoted.
While other candidates are busy campaigning for votes, Curran is focused on protests. She told Ricochet she is willing to sacrifice her political career to make a change. “We are experiencing another record-breaking summer with devastating heat and wildfires. Completing this pipeline will only bring more death and destruction,” she said.
Keenan: Pandemic stress has left many with coronasomnia (September 11, 2021)
Dr. Luc Beaudoin, Adjunct Professor, is mentioned.
Kageyama suggests Beaudoin’s technique called Serial Diverse Imaging. First, you select a keyword like “blanket.” Starting with the first letter, you visualize things that start with it. They can be objects, activities, or even persons – banana, bread, bowling, your friend Billy. The key is that they are unrelated and will re-assure your brain that there’s no threat lurking nearby. When you get bored with the first letter, just move along. With any luck, you won’t make it to the last letter.
Celeste Nazeli Snowber: Writer, Dancer, and Choreographer (September 23, 2021)
Dr. Celeste Snowber, Professor, is featured.
"I think the mind, body and heart are interconnected and if we open one, we can open the other. However little attention has been given to opening the body, which I believe is deeply connected to intuition, trauma, healing and shifting into new ways of being, reflecting and perceiving. I want a mind with body and a body with mind. And of course, heart, always."
