The Cmolik Prize for the Enhancement of Public Education in BC recognizes recipients who have developed and implemented an invention, innovation, concept, process or procedure that enhances educational practice in the K-12 public school system in B.C.. The award was endowed to the Faculty of Education, Simon Fraser Unviersity by Russ Cmolik and Ellen Cmolik.
INNOVATIONS IN EDUCATION SPREAD ACROSS BC
The Prize arises from their passion for education and inspirations gained by their visits to schools and to places around the world. It encourages practitioners, researchers, administrators, and policy makers to enrich teaching and learning, particularly to stimulate a desire to learn and to develop life skills to become productive and responsible members of our community.
ABOUT THE CMOLIKS
The Cmolik Prize for the Enhancement of Public Education in British Columbia, is named in honour of Russ Cmolik and Ellen Cmolik, long time supporters of Simon Fraser University. Russ and Ellen established the Cmolik Foundation in 2008, which supports post secondary scholarships and enriched learning opportunities to students from across B.C..
Russ Cmolik
Russ Cmolik is a Chartered Professional Acountant and former President and Chief Operating Officer of Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers Inc., the leading industrial heavy equipment auction company in the world, where he worked for 29 years and served as President from 1992 to 2002.
Ellen Cmolik
Ellen Cmolik is both a Charted Professional Accountant and a Certified Financial Planner, and has worked in industry, non-profit, public practice and teaching over the course of her 30 year career. She is passionate about ensuring the availability of education for B.C. youth.
