Faculty of Education participates in Orange Shirt Day

On September 30^th, the Indigenous Education Reconciliation Council and the Executive Council, as well as faculty, staff and students in Faculty of Education, are remembering and honouring all those impacted by residential schools. We thank those who have shared their stories of survival, healing and resilience with us.

As a collective we recognize our responsibility to the past, as well as to the present, and to the future. This Fall in the Faculty of Education, 421 student teachers are learning about the history and the intergenerational impacts of Indian residential schools, and how to teach this history to others. 

Our commitment is to create schools where every child matters, and a university where all students have a sense of belonging, and is guided by the 6Rs: Relationships, Responsibility, Reciprocity, Respect, Reverence, and Relevance.
