"The FoE has some really exceptional faculty and support staff. You will not feel that you are on your learning journey alone."

I have a background in education (UK and Canada) and I am also a clinical counsellor. I work full-time at KPU as Director, Counselling and Accessibility Services. I also teach part-time in a Master of Counselling program and have a small private counselling practice.

Please tell us why you chose the Faculty of Education at SFU for your studies

SFU Faculty of Education has a very good reputation. I was looking for a Canadian based cohort program.

Who is a faculty member you have enjoyed working with and why?

Three people jump to mind. Firstly, Dr. Cher Hill, was an exceptional support as I navigated my thesis and co-supervisor. Secondly, Dr. David Kaufman who was a guide for me at the beginning of my PhD journey and a co-supervisor. Both Cher and David were very friendly, supportive, and easy to work with. And thirdly, Dr. Cheryl Amundsen - I had the pleasure of being in her class for two courses. She is an exceptional learning facilitator.

What would you say to prospective students who are considering graduate school in the Faculty of Education?

The FoE has some exceptional faculty and support staff. You will not feel that you are on your learning journey alone. You will experience both support and challenge and will undoubtedly feel like you've grown both personally and professionally by the time you've finished!
