Previous Peer Mentor
Cassandra Stad
I very much enjoyed the HIVE Leader program and wanted to continue volunteering within the Faculty of Education. I thought the Peer Mentor program would be an awesome experience and am super excited to meet and work with incoming students!
What is your best first year memory?
I remember being terrified heading into my very first class in university, but quickly finding ease as I made a new friend when paired up. I still have a strong friendship with this peer and am very grateful to go through uni with her.
Words of advice to new students?
Don't be scared to join clubs and try new things that interest you! SFU has so many clubs and teams to join and there is always something for everyone, even if they have little-to-no experience!
What are you involved in on and off campus?
On-campus, I am a HIVE Leader and Peer Mentor. Off-campus, I volunteer with the City of PoCo and Big Sisters and work at a local daycare.
