Wishes: | Dear Thelma, You were already a Professor emerita when I joined Biology way back when, and it's wonderful that you're still going strong today. I remember that your door was always open, and you were there as colleague, counsellor and role model---especially as one of the rare women faculty members in my early years. I remember the dedicated researcher sitting at her microscope, continuing with entomological research in those offices we shared up on the B9000 level. I remember the wonderful neighbour who would always find time to chat and give advice or counsel to novice faculty members like me, or students looking for answers or a friendly and supportive face. Finally, you'll always be a model for the rest of us: a real ?mensch? in every sense of the word and someone to admire and look up to. Congratulations on being such a positive influence; you've touched hundreds (thousands?) of lives so far, with more yet to come! Best wishes, Barry |
