Thelma, I remember so fondly how warmly you welcomed me to SFU, and how kindly and gently you gave me guidance and advice as a new faculty member. I tried my best to emulate your love of teaching and your sincere appreciation for students and learning, and of course for the field of pest management. I have not forgotten how you generously gave me your entire teaching slide collection of everything insect, which I used for decades in teaching the course we both loved so deeply, BISC 317, Introduction to Entomology. To a fine entomologist, a dedicated teacher, a committed mentor, a fabulous colleague, and a lovely, lovely person: all my best on your 100th birthday. Mark
