How to make a payment

warning We do not accept cryptocurrency

We noticed that some third-party service providers have falsely advertised that SFU accepts cryptocurrency as a form of payment. We do not accept payments by cryptocurrency. We will not be held responsible for any fees incurred for such payments or returns. Please make appropriate arrangements and pay using the acceptable payment options.

Paying within Canada

Paying by internet banking is the most convenient method of payment (see also Bill Payment). Allow two to three business days for the payment to show on your SFU student account. For internet banking, 'Simon Fraser University' should be selected as the payee. Student number should be entered as the account number.

Canadian bank debit cards are accepted in-person at the Registrar and Information Services counters at all three campuses. Please note: digital wallet payments are not accepted in-person.

Cheques can be dropped off at the cheque drop box in MBC 3200.

Paying from outside of Canada

Wire payments through Flywire is the only accepted form of payment. Allow approximately five business days for the payment to show on your SFU student account.

Payment Plan via Flywire

If you are in financial difficulty, you can pay by installments with a Flywire Payment Plan. Your account will be considered in good standing for next term's sign up if you have fulfilled Flywire's installment requirements.

Enrolling in payment plans will not exempt students from being assessed monthly interest charges. Any unpaid balances past the tuition deadline is subject to a 2% monthly interest charge.

Application fee

Payment option

Visa and MasterCard credit cards are the only accepted forms of payment. If you do not have a credit card you can use a prepaid or gift credit card to pay your application fee.

The non-refundable application fee must be paid upon submitting an application for admission.

Fee type

Admission deposit

The undergraduate admission deposit is $250 for Canadian students; $5,000 for International students.

Payment options

Visa and MasterCard credit cards are accepted forms of payment for the undergraduate admission deposit. You can pay on goSFU under "My admission to SFU" and "view and pay my fees."

Graduate students can pay by credit card through their graduate student online application system, or use one of the other methods listed on this page. Please note that admission deposits may vary by graduate program.

Please note: The non-refundable admission deposit payment might not go into the term you intend to enrol in. This is because payments are credited according to the default term set up on the student information system, which only changes midway through the terms. However, your account will NOT be adversely affected by this. Once you enrol in classes, the credit will automatically move to the term in which you are enrolled.

How to pay your admission deposit

  • Log in to your student account via go.sfu.ca and go to Campus Finances / Make a Payment by the deadline specified in your offer of admission letter.
  • Credit card payments made via the web are processed immediately; if you pay by internet banking or by cheque, please allow at least two to three business days for your deposit to be processed before you enrol in classes. This deposit will be deducted from your total tuition; it's not an additional charge.

Note: This admission deposit is non-refundable and non-transferable.

If you have enrolled in courses and later decided to attend another educational institution or withdraw from SFU, please ensure you drop all the courses you have enrolled in as soon as possible. Otherwise, you will be responsible for any outstanding tuition and fees in your student account.
