Keep studying, your grades still matter
Requirements:
- High school graduation
- Competence in English Language and Quantitative & Analytical Skills
- Minimum 5 approved grade 12 courses for admission (including program-specific requirements)
SFU will remove one grade 12 course from the evaluation if you present six or more approved courses as follows:
- If you present six or more approved List A courses, SFU will remove the lowest, non-required List A course
- If you present five or fewer List A courses, your lowest List B course will be removed.
All approved grade 11 and 12 courses will be used in the admission evaluation.
A greater emphasis is placed on List A courses in the evaluation as they are indicators of success for that particular program.
Current Grade 12 students (Fall)
All courses, both in-person and online, must be complete by June 30, 2025 to be used in the admission evaluation.
Summer school courses completed between June 30, 2025 and the start of your Fall term at SFU will not be used in your admission evaluation.
Students who have completed Grade 12
If you have already completed your grade 12 year and are upgrading or taking additional high school courses, an official, final transcript, including graduation, must be submitted via STS to the Undergraduate Admissions office. All courses must be complete with final grades on your Ministry of Education transcript by the deadline below.
- Applicants to the Beedie School of Business: February 7
- Applicants to all other programs: February 28
- All distributed learning courses must be 50% complete by March 15, and 100% complete by June 30th. Please arrange for your interim and final grades to be submitted directly by your school.
- We are unable to consider courses completed during the Summer for admission, after the June 30th deadline.
Deadlines:
January 31 | SFU Undergraduate Scholars Entrance Scholarship applicants |
February 7 | Beedie School of Business applicants |
March 31 | All other applicants |
Download our Self-Reported Grades flow chart for directions on what to self report.
Courses where a grade of Transfer Standing (TS) has been received, should be reported as TS. Please do not report a grade of TS if you have not received one.
The Student Transcript Service (STS) form authorizes SFU to access your official transcript from the Ministry of Education. Please complete this form by January 31, 2025.
To complete the form:
- Go to BC Order Transcripts and Certificates
- Select the option to have your transcript sent now
- Give SFU permission to request transcript updates of your official record until October 2025
Challenge exams will appear on your transcript as the course you are challenging, with the grade you receive on the exam.
We require your final challenge grade to be on your official Ministry of Education transcript along with your interim grades, usually available in April.
When self-reporting your grades, please enter the course you will be challenging with a mark in an equivalent course so we can use it in the evaluation process. For example, if you are challenging French 12 and do not have a grade yet, please self-report French 12 with the grade you received in French 11.
If you are unable to fulfill an admission requirement due to extenuating circumstances, please complete the Student Course Exception Form
Students must still present a minimum of 5 approved grade 12 academic courses and meet the university English Language and Quantitative requirements.
