WELCOME DAY - FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Why should I attend Welcome Day?
- Welcome Day helps connect new students with the SFU community in a fun and engaging way. You will have the chance to meet your HIVE and various staff and faculty members. It's also your chance to explore campus and learn more about how to get involved in our university!
Do I have to RSVP to attend Welcome Day?
- Yes! Your RSVP helps us prepare for your arrival on Welcome Day and lets us know if you require any special dietary or accessibility accommodations. Registration closes on August 25!
What should I bring with me on Welcome Day?
- As portions of the day may be taking place outdoors, make sure to dress accordingly. We also recommend that you have your class schedule with you so HIVE Leaders can help find your specific classrooms, lecture theatres and labs.
I did not receive an invite to register for Welcome Day. What do I do?
- Please contact us at orientation@sfu.ca.
Can I bring my parents/friends/supporters with me to Welcome Day?
- Welcome Day is only open to new SFU students.
What if I want to attend Welcome day at another campus?
- Your Welcome Day campus has been determined based on your course enrolment. Not all Faculty programming takes place at every campus, and therefore may not be the best fit based on your program of study. Accommodations are made only on a case-by-case basis by emailing orientation@sfu.ca.
I've registered for Welcome Day. What's next?
- Students will be sent "Welcome Day: what you need to know" email no later than August 30. There you will find more information about parking, where to meet your HIVE, and other important details. If you have not received this email by August 31, please contact orientation@sfu.ca.
