SFU Sports Clubs Awards

Field Hockey
Moira Colbourne Field Hockey Award
- Undergraduate student (including PDP) registered full-time (minimum of 9 credit hours per term) at SFU.
- Good academic standing within any faculty of SFU maintaining at least a cumulative GPA of 2.0.
- Active member of a women’s field hockey team/club within B.C.
Women's Field Hockey Award
- Undergraduate student (including PDP) registered full-time (minimum of 9 credit hours per term) at SFU.
- Good academic standing within any faculty of SFU maintaining at least a cumulative GPA of 2.0.
- Active member of a women’s field hockey team/club within B.C.
- Demonstrates a high standard of leadership and proficiency in the sport of field hockey.
- Special consideration will be given to candidates who, in addition to playing, have participated in either coaching or umpiring field hockey at a junior or senior level.
Ice Hockey
Ice Hockey Club - Men's Award
- Awards are available from funds raised by SFU Men’s Ice Hockey Club to assist students in meeting their educational goals. Awards will be granted to full-time students in good academic standing based on demonstrated leadership and performance as members of the SFU Men’s Ice Hockey Club.
Vancouver Canucks Alumni Association Award
- Granted to members of the SFU Men’s Hockey Team who demonstrate high standards of leadership and performance in their sport.
Lacrosee
Christian Friesen Memorial Award
- The awards, valued at a minimum of $1500 and a maximum of $3500, will be granted to students in good academic standing in any faculty who have demonstrated the following:
- High standards of leadership
- High standards of performance on the lacrosse field
- High standards of teamwork
- Academic accomplishment may be considered in selection of the recipient.
- The awards will be split equally between the recipients.
Field Lacrosse Club Awards
- Awards are available from funds raised by SFU Field Lacrosse Club to assist students in meeting their educational goals. Awards will be granted to full-time students in good academic standing based on demonstrated leadership and performance as members of the SFU Field Lacrosse Club.
- The awards will be made by the nomination of the Senior Director, Athletics & Recreation.
SFU Lacrosse Endowment Award
- To students in good academic standing in any faculty who have demonstrated high standards of leadership and performance as members of the SFU lacrosse club. Academic accomplishment may be considered in selection of the recipient.
Rugby
Darryl "Lumpy" Lawrence Lucas Annual Award in Rugby
- An annual award of $1000 will be made to an SFU student who plays on the SFU men's or women's rugby teams. The award will be granted to the player who best exemplifies sportsmanship and is in good academic standing. Sportsmanship will be defined as a player who assists in achieving goals, boosts team morale, strives for his or her personal best but may not receive the same credit as the top player on the team.
Rugby Club Awards
- Awards are available from funds raised by SFU Rugby Club to assist students in meeting their educational goals. Awards will be granted to full-time students in good academic standing based on demonstrated leadership and performance as members of the SFU Rugby Club.
Bob Spray Rugby Awards
- The award will be granted annually in any term to rugby players enrolled full-time at SFU in the term of award. Both graduate and undergraduate students can be considered for this award. This award is offered in recognition of significant contributions to the rugby team at SFU, or in recognition of excellence in extraordinary amateur rugby activities.
Rowing
Dick McClure Award for Rowing
- The award, valued at a minimum of $800, will be granted to an undergraduate student who: is in good academic standing; competes as a member of the SFU Rowing Club; and demonstrates exceptional sportsmanship, leadership and/or athletic promise.
Rowing Club Awards
- Awards are available from funds raised by SFU Rowing Club to assist students in meeting their educational goals. Awards will be granted to full-time students in good academic standing based on demonstrated leadership and performance as members of the SFU Rowing Club.
Tennis
David Pel Tennis Award
- One award, valued at a minimum of $1,000, will be granted annually in any term to an undergraduate student who meets the following criteria:
- is enrolled full-time;
- is in good academic standing;
- has demonstrated outstanding contributions as an active member of the SFU Tennis Club Team.
- Recommendations will be forwarded by the Director of Recreation to the Senior Director, Athletics and Recreation.
Water Polo
Water Polo Club Award
- Awards are available from funds raised by SFU Water Polo Club to assist students in meeting their educational goals. Awards will be granted to full-time students in good academic standing based on demonstrated leadership and performance as members of the Water Polo Club.
Water Polo Award
- The award will be given to students in good academic standing in any faculty who have demonstrated high standards of leadership and performance as a member of the SFU women's or men's water polo club.
