Chapter 12 Aaron Robertson's Wikipedia Page
Project by: Nikolai Goroupitch, Connor Tung, and Hoang Viet Troung.
\(\textbf{Summary:}\) Our project is to create a Wikipedia page on the mathematician Dr. Aaron Robertson, a well–known contributor in the field of Ramsey theory.
The Wikipedia page that we created is structured in two sections: (1) “Life and Education” that entails Aaron Robertson's life and career; (2) “Mathematical works” that includes summaries of the various work that Aaron Robertson has contributed to the field of mathematics.
We researched about Dr. Robertson online through his website and as well as Facebook and Twitter. There we were able to retrieve some of his personal information such as his birthplace and eduction. Moreover, we also found his hobbies beside mathematics include music and sports, especially hockey as he is currently the liason of the Women's Ice Hockey team at Colgate University. We also found 27 books and articles, which he is author or co–author from as early as 1993. We conducted a zoom meeting to learn more about him and to confirm what we had gathered.
For example, we learned that one of Robertson's lectures at Temple University was being taught by Professor Doron Zeilberger to which he became inspired from his exciting distinctive talks. After passing the qualifying exam, Zeilberger asked Robertson if he could be his advisor and Robertson agreed. Although Zeilberger did not focus particularly on Ramsey theory, Robertson, to his surprise, received a Ramsey theory problem from Zeilberger for his dissertation.
