FASS Dean's Undergraduate Fellowship
Awarded annually to a student from each BA-granting FASS department or program that exemplifies a full range of academic and humanistic qualities.
In its ongoing commitment to cultivating student excellence and potential, the FASS Dean's Undergraduate Fellowship program will select one student from each bachelor of arts (BA)-granting FASS department or program every fall semester.
Nominated by their respective departments/programs, the students will be chosen not only for their exceptional academic achievements and intellectual potential but also for their embodiment of core humanistic values such as compassion, creativity, and leadership.
The Dean of FASS will normally name each department or program’s top-ranked nominee a Fellow and invite them to participate in the Dean’s Leadership Seminar. In some circumstances, a department or program’s second-ranked student will be selected.
Benefits
- Fellows will receive a scholarship in the amount of one unit’s tuition, which will render their participation in FASS 499: Dean’s Leadership Seminar free of charge.
- Fellows will be invited to a small reception near the end of the fall term in which they are named Fellows. This is an opportunity to get to know one another and to meet the FASS academic leadership.
- In the final week of the spring semester, Fellows will be recognized and awarded at the FASS Dean's Undergraduate Fellows Awards Ceremony and Dinner in front of family and academic mentors.
Eligibility Criteria
Nominees for the FASS Dean's Undergraduate Student Fellowship must:
- Be enrolled full-time in a FASS program in the semester in which they are nominated
- Have a CGPA of at least 3.5 at the time of nomination
- Normally be intending to graduate during the academic year in which they are nominated, though exceptions will be considered in extraordinary cases
