FASS Mentorship in Burnaby
Hiring for the 2024 team is now complete.
Return here in Spring 2025 to join next year's team!
FASS Mentors help new students transition into the community by:
- Introducing SFU and sharing stories about their academic, social and professional experience
- Connecting them to personal and professional development opportunities on campus
- Facilitate conversations and group activities to encourage participation and involvement
FASS Mentors also build community by:
- Being the student voice and key contributors of our @fass.engage Instagram & TikTok channels
- Provide peers with a good example of leadership and community building at SFU
- Represent their department by participating in FASS Faculty workshops and events
- Introduce the general student population to FASS volunteer and involvement opportunities
Why be a FASS mentor?
Gain friendships and connections, and build up your resume as you provide mentorship and guidance to other students.
- Give back to the SFU community by helping new students transition into their new environment
- Gain event planning skills such as recruitment, event planning, public speaking etc.
- Acquire valuable communications skills to enhance your resume, cover letter and LinkedIn
- Expand your network by building connections with a likeminded group of peers with similar enthusiasm and leadership qualities
- Help organize and run amazing events for new students like FASS Camps and Mentorship socials
- Recognized on your Co-Curricular Record (CCR)

Application instructions
You will be redirected to myinvolvement.sfu.ca, SFU's website for on-campus opportunities.
- Under the Students block, click Login. Enter your SFU student ID and password.
- Click the blue Search Postings button (middle of the screen).
- Click Getting Involved Posting
- In the Search by keyword bar, type in: FASS Mentor.
- Read the Posting Detail tab to learn everything you need to know about the job.
- Once you are ready to apply, click the Application Information tab. Copy and paste the provided websurvey link into your browser.
- Complete the websurvey and click Submit.
