Re/presenting Research in with/holding, poems by Chantal Gibson
In this research talk, Chantal Gibson discusses her latest poetry collection with/holding (Caitlin Press, 2021) which addresses the representation and reproduction of Blackness across technology and communication media. As a visual artist whose poetic work sits in the overlap between literary and visual art, Gibson will examine the various ways the theme of research is woven across the collection to inform content, give voice to characters, and build poetic form. As an educator, Gibson demonstrates how experimental engagement with history and theory--the hallmarks of her grad school seminars-- can lead to provocative forms of scholarly output and new ways of understanding knowledge.
