The following awards are managed by SFU's Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. As long as you are studying one of our programs, you may be eligible. Please read more below.

For all awards, please contact your department advisor for information. Your advisor will contact the FASS Dean's office to submit your nomination.

Michael McDonell Memorial Award in Social Justice

This award provides recognition to undergraduate students in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, and, in particular, those who have demonstrated commitment to social activism and justice.

  • Minimum value: $1000

Michael McDonell Memorial Award in Social Justice

FASS Travel Award

This award supports undergraduate students in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences who are undertaking a practicum, exchange, research, or field school for the purposes of research related to their studies at SFU.

  • Minimum value: $1000

FASS Travel Award

Robert C. Brown Award

This award provides recognition to undergraduate students in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences who have demonstrated a combination of outstanding academic achievement and outstanding performance or leadership in another endeavour at Simon Fraser University.

  • Minimum value: $3000

Robert C. Brown Award

Li Family Undergraduate Student Award

This award provides recognition to international undergraduate students in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences who have demonstrated commitment to volunteerism related to social activism and justice.

  • Minimum value: $4000
