Exchanging people and ideas
SFU staffers Dal Sohal and Jill Jodrey were the first participants in SFU international’s new staff mobility initiative, a program launched in 2003 to support staff exchanges or attachments with partner universities around the world.
Sohal, health outreach coordinator for the Health, Career and Counselling Centre, spent three weeks at the University of Arizona in Tuscon. Jodrey, an instructional developer in the Learning and Instructional Development Centre (LIDC), spent three weeks at Monash University in Melbourne, Australia.
Sohal investigated how the University of Arizona, a leader in proactive health promotion, has used social norms marketing to promote healthy student lifestyles, particularly in the area of alcohol awareness. Jodrey examined how Monash University improved their management systems for students, a subject of interest to LIDC.
