School Visits
There are many schools in BC that have hosted a Math Catcher School Visit! From one corner of the province to the other, we demonstrate to the members of our audiences that they have been using and doing mathematics all the time, that they can see mathematics around them, that they can touch it and make it with their own hands, and that doing mathematics can trigger feelings of pride, happiness, and joy.
Math Catcher School Visits encourage elementary and high school students to recognize how math is used in everyday life
and how it forms the basis for many of our daily decisions and life-long choices. The storytelling, pictures, models, and hands-on activities encourage young people to enjoy math and help dispel the myth that math is boring and abstract. As you see in the list below, Math Catcher has visited many schools across BC and beyond. Each visit summary includes a short description, photos, and testimonials.
To arrange a school visit, please contact Veselin Jungic at mcatcher@sfu.ca.
