Math Catchers Reinelda and Veselin visited Coast Tsimshian Academy of Lax Kw'alaams in Lax Kw'alaams, B.C. Over two day we had the privilege to meet with all students from Grades K-12 and with many of their teachers. During our workshops we demonstrated to our hosts that they have been using and doing mathematics all the time, that they can see mathematics around them, that they can touch it, make it with their own hands, and that doing mathematics can trigger feelings of pride, happiness, and joy.

What makes this school visit very special is the fact that Reinelda, a Math Catcher volunteer for many years, is a proud member of the Lax Kw'alaams' community. 

We are very thankful to all students, teachers, and staff for their wonderful hospitality. Our special thanks go to Reinelda's grandma Hazel for opening her house to us.
