Here, I examined the distribution of cetacean species as well as the effort of one of the cetacean watching operators in an attempt to explore the relationship between boat traffic and cetacean distribution. Specifically, I asked where the sightings of all cetaceans sighted during work on our independent research vessel are located in an attempt to identify diversity hotspots. Secondly, I investigated the distribuion and intensity of CW vessel effort. Lastly, in an effort to reinforce the “eco” in eco-tourism, I identified areas of interest for cetacean watch operators which had both a high likelihood for a sighting but were also close to port in an effort to reduce gasoline use and emissions.
