Guest Lecturers and Honoraria
Guest lecturers support interaction between students, instructors and experienced personnel working in the health community outside of SFU. If you are interested in having a guest lecturer for your course, please note the following guidelines:
- Instructors must seek approval (by submitting the application form) from the Associate Dean, Education at least two weeks prior to the intended date of the guest lecture.
- All requests will be reviewed by the Associate Dean, Education to ensure the guest lecturer reasonably adds value to the course.
- A minimum contribution of one 50-minute class is required to receive an honorarium.
- Unless agreed otherwise (with the Associate Dean, Education), a maximum of two guest lecturers may receive an honorarium within one 13-week (regular session) or one 6-week (intersession) course.
- The regular instructor (i.e., the faculty member assigned to teach the 13-week or 6-week course) should be in attendance during the guest lecture
- Unless agreed upon otherwise (with the Associate Dean, Education) eligible guest lecturers will receive an honorarium of $100 per appearance.
- All requests are subject to budget availability.
Review the guest lecturers’ policy and form here. When your guest speaker has completed the visit, please email the completed form to the program assistant. If free parking is required during the visit, please notify the program assistant at least 3 days in advance to make arrangements. Guest speakers do not need to pay for parking upfront.
