During an emergency:
Call 9-1-1 from a campus phone, if possible. Campus Security will be automatically notified of your call location and will direct first responders to you.
Fire
- pull the nearest fire alarm
- leave the area
- close the door
- exit the building - do not use elevators
- get to a safe location
Medical Emergency
Call 9-1-1 from a campus phone if possible to notify Campus Security of your location (they will direct first responders to your location)
- For on-campus emergency or first aid support, call 778-782-4500. Follow instructions given by Campus Security to render aid.
- During a cardiac arrest:
- Call 9-1-1
- Shout for an AED - find one now (Blusson Hall AED on the 3rd floor at the Dean's Office - BLU 11300)
- Begin chest compressions - push hard and fast in the center of the chest
Safe Walk Program
This service is available upon request on all campuses to SFU community members. Campus Security will accompany you to ensure safe travel. To request a Safe Walk, call the Campus Security non-emergency line: 778-782-7991.
Lone Worker Program
If you are working alone or in isolated circumstances where assistance would not be readily available in case of emergency, injury or illness, your supervisor can activate the Lone Worker Program for after-hours check in. If you miss a check-in, Campus Public Safety will send a patrol.
