Japanese Studies Certificate Launch Ceremony and Job Exhibition

On Friday, November 8th we hosted our Japanese Studies Certificate Launch followed by a job fair and student exhibition. The ceremony included remarks by Deputy Consul General Satomi Okagaki, director of the Japan Foundation Ms. Noriko Yamamoto, as well as SFU FASS and WLL representatives.
Fifteen companies from Canada and Japan participated in the job fair, which included a Yosakoi Dance performance, a samurai sword fighting demonstration and an Iaido demonstration. Our guests enjoyed authentic Japanese snacks and sweets and were greeted by current SFU Japanese language students showcasing their class projects.
The evening began with the certificate launch ceremony which included remarks by Deputy Consul General Satomi Okagaki, director of the Japan Foundation Ms. Noriko Yamamoto, as well as SFU FASS Associate Dean Dai Heide and WLL Chair Jia Fei.
Performers engaged in the traditional Yosakoi dance performance, part of the evening's Japanese cultural celebration.
