Celebrating Diwali in the Classroom
On October 31st, SFU's Punjabi 100 students and instructor Dr. Reetinder Kaur celebrated the vibrant festival of Diwali in their classroom.
As part of ongoing journey to explore and embrace diverse cultures, they decided to make this year’s Diwali celebration special by combining learning with fun activities that brought the spirit of the festival to life. The event was filled with the tantalizing aroma of Indian snack, samosa. This shared meal was more than just a taste experience; it was a reminder of how food can bring people together, across cultural boundaries and creating connections. The students engaged in various fun activities including painting diyas or divas and henna adornment. They also listened to Punjabi music to encourage their learning of the language.
