Recruitment for student employment starts around January of each year and continues throughout the year. We offer opportunities with our Residence Life, Guest Accommodation, Housing and Residence Facilities team.

Reporting to the Residence Life Coordinator (RLC), the Community Advisor (CA) is a part time, live-in student leadership position within the department of Residence & Housing. This position is essential to the development of a positive community and learning experience for residents. As the primary support for residents the CA assists in the creation of a safe and welcoming environment for all community members. Working closely with the Residence Life Management Team (RLMT) they assist with resident’s academic and social transition to university life and manage issues within the community to ensure safety, security, and wellbeing of residents.

Working closely with the Residence Life Management Team (RLMT) they assist with resident’s academic and social transition to university life and manage issues within the community to ensure safety, security, and wellbeing of residents.

Reporting to the Residence Life Coordinator (RLC), the Area Coordinator (AC) is a part-time, live-in student leadership position within the department of Residence & Housing. This position is essential to the development of a positive community and learning experience for residents. The AC provides a high level of support and guidance to the residence community and a team of Community Advisors. As a member of the Residence Life Team (RLT), the AC facilitates the creation of a safe and welcoming environment for all community members and assists with resident’s academic and social transition to university life. Through the mentorship and support of a team of 4-14 CAs, the AC manages issues within the community to ensure the safety, security, and wellbeing of residents. In addition, the AC responds to after-hours incidents in a supportive capacity as part of an In night rotation, exercising sound judgment and problem solving skills, escalating calls to the Residence Life Management Team (RLMT) when necessary.

As a member of the Residence Life Team (RLT), the AC facilitates the creation of a safe and welcoming environment for all community members and assists with resident’s academic and social transition to university life. Reporting to the Residence Life Coordinator (RLC), the Beedie Living-Learning Community Advisor (LLCA) is a part time, live-in student leadership position within the department of Residence & Housing. This position is essential to the development of a positive community and learning experience for residents. As the primary support for residents the Beedie LLCA assists in the creation of a safe and welcoming environment for all community members. With a focus on students living in Living-Learning Communities (LLCs), the Beedie LLCA works closely with the Beedie School of Business and the Residence Leadership Team (RLMT) to assist with resident’s academic and social transition to university life. The Beedie LLCA also assists in the management of issues within the community to ensure safety, security and wellbeing of residents. SFU Beedie Student Preferred.

Engaged Global Citizenship Living Learning Community Advisor

Reporting to the Residence Life Coordinator (RLC), the Engaged Global Citizenship Living-Learning Community Advisor (EGC LLCA) is a part time, live-in student leadership position within the department of Residence & Housing. This position is essential to the development of a positive community and learning experience for residents. As the primary support for residents the EGC LLCA assists in the creation of a safe and welcoming environment for all community members. With a focus on students living in the Engaged Global Citizenship Living-Learning Community (LLCs), the EGC LLCA works closely with the International Services for Students (ISS), Fraser International College (FIC), and the Residence Leadership Management Team (RLMT) to assist with resident’s academic and social transition to university life. The EGC LLCA also assists in the management of issues within the community to ensure safety, security and wellbeing of residents.

Summer Guest Accomodations Assistants (Part-time and Full-Time) - Hiring Four (4) Staff

The SFU Guest Accommodations Team coordinates the stay of individual guests and groups between May and August in The Simon and private residence rooms. Under the direction of the Manager, Guest Accommodations, the Summer Guest Accomodations Assistant is responsible for working with various external and internal groups that stay in SFU Residence during the summer. This includes communicating with group coordinators and guests via email and phone to ensure contract deadlines are met, inspecting rooms prior to their arrival, preparing room keys, coordinating the check-in process, and acting as a point of contact for the group during their stay. Please note: these positions can qualify for a co-op term.

Room Condition Inspector

Reporting to the Coordinator, Residence Facilities Services, the Room Condition Inspector enters and visually inspects occupied student residence units throughout the term, and vacant residence units at the end of the term. The incumbent determines and records the condition and cleanliness of the units and any missing inventory, and provides recommendations for maintenance to be completed prior to units being cleaned and released for occupancy as needed.
