1) Creating the ROADBOOL image was the easieast one to do. Using the vector line file of the major roads of Hawaii (MAJORRD), I used the LINERAS vector to raster operation to create the MAJORRD raster file.

2) I then used the BUFFER function to create the boolean image of the road (ROADBOOL) showing areas withing 5000m or 5km within a major road.
