Francyne is a Geoscientist with a Ph.D. in Basin Analysis from Imperial College London and Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), and an M.Sc. in Sedimentology and Stratigraphy from UFRGS. Her research centers on using reflection seismic, well logs, and rock data to assess CO2 storage potential and examine the interplay of tectonics, eustasy, and sedimentation in sedimentary basins. She has contributed to numerous projects involving intracratonic and passive margin basins in Brazil.
Following her Ph.D., Francyne undertook postdoctoral research in collaboration with energy industry companies (Petrobras and Shell), conducting integrated sedimentological, stratigraphic, and petrophysical studies of carbonate and siliciclastic reservoirs. She also lectured at the University of Toronto, teaching introductory geology, sedimentology and basin analysis to undergraduate students. Currently a postdoctoral researcher at Simon Fraser University, Francyne focuses on the seismic and petrophysical characterization of the Georgia Basin and its CO2 storage potential.
