Episode 8: Finding Your Place in Publishing with Heidi Waechtler

From directing the Association of Book Publishers of British Columbia and finishing her Master’s thesis nearly a decade after her coursework, Heidi sheds light on finding a meaningful place in the publishing industry.

Heidi Waechtler (MPub cohort 2011–12) is currently director of sales and distribution at Figure 1 Publishing, a leading publisher of high-quality illustrated books. She's held roles including executive director of the Association of Book Publishers of BC, managing editor at Toronto's Coach House Books, and visiting faculty at SFU Publishing. She lives in Port Moody, BC on the unceded, occupied, ancestral and traditional lands of the Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh), Kʷikʷəƛ̓əm (Kwikwetlem), xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and Stó:lō Nations.
