Diversity Statement

The Centre for Educational Excellence at SFU recognizes and aims to continue to be accountable for settler colonial policies and practices on which its status on the unceded and traditional territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), səl̓ilw̓ətaʔɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) and kʷikʷəƛ̓əm (Kwikwetlem) nations is predicated.

CEE staff know that for our anti-racist statement to have meaning, we have to fully commit to using our power and privilege to be change agents in our practices, on our campuses, and in our communities, whether in person or virtually. CEE pledges to actively and intentionally stand against anti-BIPOC racism, and our leadership team and staff continue to engage in ongoing learning in order to progress on our own anti-racism journeys.

CEE is committed to an ongoing process of transformative practices informed by anti-racist and radically inclusive education of both internal as well as external reach. We support and amplify past and recent collective and individual SFU community efforts, including but not limited to the EDI initiatives as well as the SFU Library Statement on EDI.
