Description: EcoGuard- Your ultimate companion for fire safety.

The design focus for IAT 334 this year was Wildfire Prevention or Emergency Response. After conducting in-depth research and user studies, our team chose to develop an app to address open burning, one of the most prevalent causes of human-caused wildfires. According to the government of British Columbia, an average of 35% of wildfires between 2021 and 2022 were caused by humans, with 16 out of 60 notable wildfires being human-caused. Improper open burning was identified as a significant contributing factor. Therefore, our intervention, EcoGuard, an AI-powered solution designed to assist individuals in conducting safe open-burning by scanning their surroundings and providing AI-generated suggestions. The app also includes the Activity Watch Smart Notification System, an offline accessible resource page, emergency call capabilities, weather updates, and more. EcoGuard aims to serve as a comprehensive resource for outdoor open burning safety.
