Cursed Dinner Set (speculative design)
By: Annette Chen, Alyssa Umbal, Shayla Pal, Ibraheem Azad, Michelle Irvine
Course: IAT 431 Speculative Design
Description: With each passing year, climate change continues to grow into a prevalent global issue causing rising sea levels, forest fires, flooding, and other devastating effects. Dishware is our medium to explore the issue of climate change on a much more personal level allowing a more visceral experience.
The Cursed Dinner Set includes four items with hidden behaviours that can only be discovered when food or liquids interact with it. Each piece's response is based on different consequential aspects of climate change. We hope this creates a shocking impression on the user, and provokes them to think about the issues regarding the consequences of our changing climate.
