SIAT Lecturer Wins Best Animation at the California Music Video Awards with Generative AI Filmmaking
School of Interactive Arts & Technology lecturer Michael Filimowicz (artist name: Myk Eff) recently won the Best Animation at the California Music Video Awards with Generative AI Filmmaking for his music video for Barn Burner.
The California Music Video Awards celebrate and honour the great work and creative excellence of music videos, music, musicians, artists, films and directors from around the world.
In addition to winning the Best Animation Award, Filimowicz's music video for Barn Burner was also a finalist in the categories of Best Sci-Fi, Horror & Fantasy and Viewer's Choice: Best EDM/Dance video.
Using artificial intelligence in creating the video component, the music video invokes music and fire festivals, while also referencing climate change.
Filimowicz's work has exhibited in many new media art shows and in festivals worldwide. He currently streams his digital images on the Loupe Art platform.
