VPRI Postdoctoral Travel Award

The Vice President Research & Innovation (VPRI) Postdoctoral Travel Award is designed to advance the professional development of SFU’s postdoctoral fellows (PDF) by providing supplemental financial support for travel to present or disseminate scholarly work at events (e.g., conferences, symposia, workshops). This initiative enables PDFs to showcase their research at national and international events, facilitating engagement with global experts and fostering the development of scholarly and professional networks

The awards are valued at maximum $500 for domestic travel and $1000 for international travel for eligible postdoctoral applicants. The application form must be submitted to postdoc@sfu.ca by every 1st of the month, with a decision to follow by no later than the end of the month of submission.

How to Apply

Eligibility and suitablity

Awards valued at maximum $500 for domestic travel and $1000 for international travel will be granted to selected PDFs who meet the following criteria:

  • Is an appointed or invited postdoctoral fellow at SFU.
  • Is planning to disseminate scholarly work at a national or international event in no longer than one year after the month in which an application is submitted.
  • Has not received a VPRI Postdoctoral Travel Award in the past 24 months

Apply by

  • Submitting the application form to the Postdoctoral Affairs Coordinator (postdoc@sfu.ca).
  • The application intake deadline will be on every 1st of the month, with a decision to follow by no later than the end of the month.

     

Notification of Award

Successful applicants will be notified by the end of the month following submission of application form. However, funds will only be disbursed after the travel has occurred and once proof of travel has been provided. The funds will be deposited directly as an Award payment (through payment requisition) following the fund release approval.
