Compensation Planning, Pay Transparency and Salary Scales

The SFU Compensation team oversees annual salary progressions and schedules and conducts reviews of pay structures to align with market salaries.

Pay Transparency

We use a gender-neutral job evaluation system to determine the “size” of a job based on knowledge, problem solving and accountability requirements.

Salary/hiring ranges are posted for all positions, and we recognize the many ways that candidates gain experience when we determine salary (e.g. lived experience, transferable skills).

We are committed to transparent communication of our compensation practices. Click here to learn more about the Pay Transparency Act. If you have questions, please reach out!

Compensation Planning and Reporting

Annually, SFU fulfills various reporting obligations to the Public Sector Employers' Council Secretariat (PSEC), including the Compensation Base Report, Executive Compensation Disclosure, Baseline Survey, and Senior Employee Compensation. Additionally, conducts market surveys to remain competitive in the marketplace. Through these surveys, we gather valuaable insights on evolving trends and industry dynamics, empowering SFU to make informed decisions, adapt to market changes, and consistently enhance our offerings.
